Indy Winter Farmers Market Vendor: Dickinson Woodworking

Every week during the Indy Winter Farmers Market season, we'll be profiling one of our local vendors! You can find the full list of IWFM vendors and past profiles here.

Dickinson Woodworking, 5th season at IWFM
Located east of Indianapolis in Greenfield, we produce handmade kitchenware from local Indiana hardwoods. Whenever possible, we use wood from our own sawmill, which we use to process storm-damaged and removed residential trees.

Most popular item?
Spoons are always popular. Everyone who cooks needs a spoon, and our customers are always telling us how much they love our spoons for being ergonomic, durable and effective. They don't look too shabby either!

Why should people shop at the IWFM?
The IWFM represents a wonderful array of vendors who you can get to know and be more connected to, and who offer the best-quality products and food. Having a more personal relationship with who you buy from can give you confidence in what you buy and eat.

What do you buy at the IWFM?
My favorites are carrots and apples, and I like to stock up on honey from Wildflower Ridge. The meats I have purchased have been of amazing quality. I was outside grilling a bison steak from Circle L Bison once and a raven came and stole it off the grill! I was upset to lose the steak, but that raven sure had a good meal!

Indy Winter Farmers Market Vendor: Ludwig Farmstead Creamery

Every week during the Indy Winter Farmers Market season, we'll be profiling one of our local vendors! You can find the full list of IWFM vendors and past profiles here.

Ludwig Farmstead Creamery, 3rd season at IWFM

We are located about 100 miles northwest from Indianapolis in Fithian, Ill. We produce farmstead cheeses. Most are made with raw milk from our own cows and are traditional European cheese recipes.

Most unique item?
Our Vermilion River Blue cheese (pictured) is a very unique "blue cheese." It's a triple cream cheese with just a hint of "blue" in it. I call it our "Gateway Blue Cheese" because many people who don't like traditional blue cheese enjoy this cheese -- it's very mild and very creamery.

Why should people shop at the IWFM?
It's a great market! The vendors provide products from the area that are of the highest quality, and there is a lot to choose from. There isn't a better place to spend a few hours on a Saturday morning in Indianapolis.

What do you buy at the IWFM?
I could practically stock my entire pantry and fridge with the available food options at the IWFM. I buy local produce. I'm a fan of Kimchi so, I always stock up on that.  Also, local breads and meats (lamb and bison).

Indy Winter Farmers Market Vendor: The Measuring Cup

Every week during the Indy Winter Farmers Market season, we'll be profiling one of our local vendors! You can find the full list of IWFM vendors and past profiles here.

The Measuring Cup, 4th season at IWFM

The Measuring Cup offers 100 percent gluten-free baked goods handcrafted in small batches with lots of thought, love and care. Our goal is to change people's perceptions about what gluten free is and how good it can be.

Most popular items?
Pumpkin bread and our honey-cinnamon graham crackers, which have been featured in Indianapolis Monthly as "Best in the City."

Why should people shop at the IWFM?
Farmers markets are a given in the summer when produce is plentiful. The IWFM provides a great service to Indianapolis, allowing residents access to fresh, local goods throughout the winter months and breathing life into the historic City Market on Saturday mornings.

What do you buy at the IWFM?
I buy so many things from the market, I have to stop from spending all my profits! I get my vanilla chai tea from Dan at Humbolt Tea. I have to get my pork tamales from 3 in 1 tamales. I get my eggs from Becker Farms. My dessert is Gorgonzola Candied Pecan from Lick Ice Cream, and I finish the market off with a spice cake juice from Natural Born Juicers.

Indy Winter Farmers Market Vendor: Lick Ice Cream

Every week during the Indy Winter Farmers Market season, we'll be profiling one of our local vendors! You can find the full list of IWFM vendors and past profiles here.

Lick Ice Cream, 3rd season at IWFM

We make ice cream using a custard base and incorporating a lot of interesting local and/or organic ingredients including herbs, cheeses and even beer! In addition to selling at farmers markets, we also have 10 restaurants and businesses as wholesale customers.

Most popular item?
A few of our most popular flavors include Salted Caramel Sage, Gingersnap Lemon Curd and Gorgonzola Candied Pecan.

Why should people shop at the IWFM?
There is something that happens to you when you walk out of the nasty, cold weather and into the IWFM. Seeing all the fresh produce, smelling all the yummy food and being able to talk with the people who make and grow all of that is just such a breath of fresh air.

What do you buy at the IWFM?
We always say that this is the best farmers market to be a vendor AND a customer! We get all our eggs from fellow vendors and our herbs when we can. We also look
forward to papusas, delicious jams and focaccia bread, too!
